Here are snippets from some popular songs referencing Wakanda:
From Lay Roo’s “Wakanda” (2018):
  • “I’m from the land of Wakanda / Taken over by the colonizer / Only together we conquer / One day we free, we’ll be screaming Amandla!”
  • “I’m about to do whatever it takes / I’m about to make some mistakes / I don’t care if they remember my name / As long as my verses inspire the change.”
From Munchiee Munch’s “Wakanda!” (2020):
  • “I need a bae from Wakanda / Baby just keep it a hunna / You can just do what you wanna / Ima come back in the summer / Taking these trips to Wakanda.”

Song Bio

T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home to his country, and we get our first glimpse of the technologically advanced nation of Wakanda.

The highlight of the track is the moment when the ship breaks through the invisible shield of the Wakandan capital city. At this time we encounter two new themes, which will return in later tracks.

The first theme starts with a distinctly African vocalization, heralding the Wakandan sunrise and highlighting the pristine landscape.

The second theme suddenly introduces regal brass horns (not native to Africa, but evoking Western imagery of nobility and prestige). The horns herald the country’s capital and its royal leader in all their glory. In later songs, this particular melody will include chants of T’challa’s name, signifying how closely his kingship is integrated with the culture of his country.
